Things to Consider as You Bike Across the Country
Bicycling is something we all enjoy and whether we do it for fun or for sport, some of us just can’t get enough of it. We make sure we get up bright and early to get in a good ride, we queue up the DIRECTV so we don’t miss a single moment of the latest action from the Tour de France, and we are always looking for new and exciting ways to challenge ourselves. Have you ever thought about bicycling across the country? It’s really not as crazy as you think but there are a few things you need to do before you attempt this undertaking.
1. Make sure you have the money – unless you are some kind of machine, you are probably going to need to stop and rest and eat and that is where the money can come in handy.
2. Pack light – there are small bags you can find that strap around your neck and shoulder without encumbering you. Change of clothes, first aid kit, water, wallet, and any other essentials can easily fit in here.
3. Stay hydrated – make sure you have easily accessible water so you don’t dehydrate.
4. Navigation – whether you use your phone, some sort of GPS or a map, you need to make sure you know where you’re going. Wouldn’t hurt to get a feel for some of the areas in order to find places like bicycle repair shops.
5. Find a hotel with laundry machines – you can get your laundry done while you rest. It never hurts to practice good hygiene on the road.
